Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation this evening with H.E. Ms. Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, candidate for the post of United Nations Secretary General and Permanent Representative of Guyana at the United Nations.

During the call, the Prime Minister underscoring the importance attached by Pakistan to strengthening multilateralism, and expressed support for the vital role being played by the United Nations for global peace and security.

He stressed the need for upholding the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, as well as faithful implementation of the UN resolutions and international treaties, for sustainable peace. The Prime Minister also called for enhanced international cooperation for achieving the global development agenda.

Ms. Rodrigues-Birkett thanked the Prime Minister for the telephone call and deeply appreciated Prime Minister’s efforts and leadership for achieving regional peace and stability. She also commended Pakistan’s invaluable contributions to the work of the United Nations.
