The Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Peshawar has significantly intensified its anti-smuggling campaign over the past two weeks through intelligence-led operations, enhanced surveillance, and strengthened field enforcement. These coordinated efforts have resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of smuggled goods and non-duty-paid (NDP) vehicles with an estimated aggregate market value of approximately Rs. 1.163 billion.
The successful operations reflect Pakistan Customs' continued resolve to curb smuggling, protect legitimate trade, and safeguard national revenue through effective intelligence gathering and robust enforcement measures.
Major Seizures During the Reporting Period
The Collectorate successfully intercepted several significant smuggling attempts, including:
• 6,330 kilograms of cellulose acetate tow concealed inside a container falsely declared as carrying household articles.
• 4,052 kilograms of assorted ladies' and gents' cloth recovered from a Bedford truck.
• 7,380 sleeves of cigarettes and 1,100 kilograms of Gold Gutka seized from another
Bedford truck.
• A large consignment of foreign-origin and non-duty-paid food items recovered from an Isuzu truck intercepted at Thakot, Hazara.
In addition to these recoveries, Pakistan Customs seized three luxury non-duty-paid (NDP) vehicles with an estimated market value of approximately Rs. 25.5 million.
These successful interceptions underscore the effectiveness of intelligence-based enforcement and close operational coordination by Customs officers in preventing the illegal movement of smuggled goods across the region.
