Ambassador Mumtaz Zahra Baloch participated in a seminar on the Traditions of the Silk Road and Intercultural Dialogue, held in UNESCO to mark the International Day of Dialogue among Civilizations. Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Baloch:
- outlined the history of Gandhara civilization, and the pivotal position of Taxila on the cross-roads of the Silk Road;
- highlighted the importance of reviving the spirit of the Silk Road and encouraging dialogue, respect for cultural diversity, mutual understanding and peaceful cooperation;
- Underlined the critical role of UNESCO is promoting dialogue, constructive engagement and multilateralism.
The event was part of daylong celebrations marking the International Day of Dialogue among Civilizations, where Pakistani cuisine was also showcased as a representative of cultural diversity among the Silk Road.
