NATIONAL HIGHWAY AUTHORITY ACHIEVES MASSIVE REVENUE MILESTONE IN TOLL PLAZA AUCTIONS 2026-27; GENERATES OVER RS. 1 BILLION SURPLUS

Islamabad: June 10, 2026

The National Highway Authority (NHA) has successfully concluded the competitive bidding process for 81 out of 93 toll plazas nationwide. Sadaqat Ullah Akhunzada, GM (Revenue / ITS) NHA HQ, as a Auctioneer conduct the Toll plaza Auction in a fair, transparent and orderly manner in accordance with approved auction procedures and terms. Highlighting a massive surge in public-private partnerships, the auction yielded an extraordinary annual revenue surplus of Rs. 1 billion and 6 crore over the set targets, with winning bids averaging an impressive 30% above their designated reserve prices. Prominent national logistics giants and private entities, including the National Logistics Cell (NLC), Ali Enterprises, Muhammad Ramzan & Company, and Gohar Hayat, aggressively secured operational rights across key highway networks.

The highest monthly yields during this phase were recorded at the strategic Jamshoro plaza (Rs. 156,670,000) and the Sangjani plaza (Rs. 134,845,000) along the N-5 highway. Notably, the Bewata plaza on the N-70 and Nokundi plaza on the N-40 route marked the highest percentage surge of the entire auction, jumping an unprecedented 880% & 154% above its reserve price due to intense competitive bidding.

Conversely, 12 toll plazas remain temporarily unawarded due to distinct administrative and legal technicalities. This breakdown includes 1 plaza withheld by the NHA due to an ongoing court case, 9 plazas that observed no bidder participation, and 2 plazas that failed to attract initial registrations. Officials confirm that despite these minor delays in the remaining clusters, the overall auction outcomes reflect a highly lucrative revenue-generation drive for the national highway network. The auction process will continue tomorrow to finalize the remaining plazas.
