Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) and Pakistan Mixed Martial Arts Federation (PMMAF) Sign Letter of Intent to Promote Youth Development Through Sports

Islamabad: June 09, 2026

A meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), chaired by Chairman Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, marked the signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI) between the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme and the Pakistan Mixed Martial Arts Federation (PMMAF). The collaboration aims to strengthen Pakistan’s sports ecosystem and create new opportunities for young people to excel nationally and internationally through Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Chairman Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan and attended by Mr. Amsal Zaman, Deputy Director PMYP, and Babar Qayyum Raja, President PMMAF, along with representatives of both organizations.

The Prime Minister’s Youth Programme is a flagship initiative of the Government of Pakistan that provides opportunities for young people under its 4Es framework—Education, Employment, Engagement, and Environment. PMMAF is the national governing body for Mixed Martial Arts in Pakistan and is responsible for the promotion, regulation, organization, and development of MMA and related combat sports at the grassroots, national, and international levels.

The Letter of Intent reflects a shared commitment to promoting youth empowerment, physical fitness, discipline, leadership, national pride, and international sports representation through Mixed Martial Arts and related combat sports activities. Both organizations agreed to work together to provide Pakistani youth with greater opportunities to participate in structured, competitive, and internationally recognized sporting activities. Through this collaboration, efforts will be made to encourage healthy lifestyles, develop sporting talent, and create pathways for young athletes to compete at national and international levels.

As one of the world's fastest-growing sports, MMA provides a valuable platform for channeling youth energy into discipline, fitness, leadership, and national representation. The partnership will focus on several key areas, including the organization of National MMA Championships, youth talent identification and development programmes, training camps, capacity-building initiatives, anti-drug and healthy lifestyle awareness campaigns, support for national and international sports representation, participation in government-led initiatives such as Bunyan-ul-Marsoos, branding and institutional visibility activities, and community engagement programmes aimed at fostering patriotism and social responsibility among youth.

Mr. Babar Qayyum Raja, President PMMAF, was designated as the focal person for all MMA-related matters. The partnership marks an important step toward expanding opportunities for Pakistani youth through sports while supporting the continued growth and development of Mixed Martial Arts in Pakistan.
