Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, attended as Chief Guest the annual Urs Mubarak ceremony of Hazrat Pir Syed Qasim Ali Shah Kirmani (RA) and Hazrat Pir Syed Shabbir Ali Shah Kirmani (RA) (Pir Peshawari), held in Jhelum under the patronage of Sajjada Nasheen Pir Syed Ameer Hamza Kirmani.
The spiritually significant gathering was attended by religious scholars, spiritual leaders, political and social figures, and a large number of devotees from across the country. Upon arrival, Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani was warmly received by the local administration and other notables.
Addressing the gathering, Chairman Senate paid tribute to the invaluable religious, spiritual, and social services of the revered saints and emphasized that the teachings of Aulia and spiritual leaders continue to promote peace, tolerance, brotherhood, coexistence, and unity among people.
He stated that Islam is a religion of peace, compassion, moderation, and harmony, and rejected attempts by certain elements to distort its true image by associating Muslims with extremism and violence. He stressed that the overwhelming majority of Muslims across the world seek peaceful coexistence and uphold values of mutual respect and human dignity.
Referring to the prevailing international environment and growing global uncertainty, Chairman Senate expressed concern over escalating tensions in different regions of the world, particularly developments that risk widening conflicts and threatening international stability. He underlined that dialogue, diplomacy, and responsible leadership remain the only sustainable path toward peace.
Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani appreciated the diplomatic efforts of Pakistan’s political and military leadership aimed at reducing international tensions, preventing escalation, and promoting regional and global peace. He emphasized that Pakistan has consistently advocated dialogue, restraint, and peaceful resolution of disputes through diplomacy and international engagement. Welcoming the ongoing dialogue between the United States and Iran, he expressed hope that the negotiations would lead to positive outcomes and contribute to regional and international stability. He also prayed for the success of these diplomatic efforts, underscoring the importance of constructive engagement in advancing lasting peace and mutual understanding.
The Chairman Senate observed that increasing global tensions and geopolitical instability have intensified economic pressures, inflation, and uncertainty worldwide, affecting developing countries including Pakistan. He emphasized that protecting ordinary citizens from economic hardship remains a national priority and reaffirmed that the Pakistan Peoples Party supports policies focused on public welfare and economic relief.
He further stated that constructive and practical recommendations would be presented in connection with the upcoming budget to ensure maximum relief for the people and strengthen economic resilience.
Chairman Senate also stressed the importance of introducing younger generations to the teachings and values of spiritual elders to promote moderation, tolerance, and moral responsibility in society. He appreciated the religious and spiritual services of Sajjada Nasheen Pir Syed Ameer Hamza Kirmani and congratulated the organizers on successfully holding the annual Urs Mubarak.
Special prayers were offered at the conclusion of the ceremony for peace, stability, prosperity, and progress in Pakistan, and for lasting peace, unity, and harmony across the Muslim Ummah and the world.
