Ambassador's Interaction with Japan-Pakistan Friendship League

Ambassador Abdul Hameed met members of the Japan-Pakistan Friendship League to strengthen parliamentary cooperation between Pakistan and Japan on 26 May 2026. The Chairman of the Friendship League, Mr. Seiji Maehara, in his opening remarks, welcomed the Ambassador and noted the cordial nature of bilateral relations between the two countries. He expressed his desire to further strengthen bilateral relations.

In his remarks, the Ambassador highlighted parliamentary diplomacy as an important pillar in promoting understanding and trust between the two countries. The Ambassador noted the Friendship League as an effective platform for dialogue, exchange of ideas and exploration of new avenues for cooperation. He underscored that for more than seven decades, the friendship between Pakistan and Japan had steadily evolved and expanded across diverse sectors including economic development, education, technology, trade, cultural exchange, and people-to-people engagement.

The Ambassador noted significant scope for collaboration in IT, digital transformation, renewable energy, agriculture, minerals, advanced manufacturing, human resource development, and infrastructure. With a young and dynamic population, a strategic geographic location, and a growing focus on economic reforms, Pakistan presents attractive prospects for international partners and investors.

In the end, the members of the Friendship League interacted with the Ambassador and asked questions regarding ways to strengthen bilateral relations and business opportunities in Pakistan.
