Naqvi Pays Tribute to Martyred Police Personnel During Peshawar Visit, Reviews CTD and Safe City Projects

Interior minister meets families of Bannu martyrs, praises counterterrorism operations, vows full federal support for KP security agencies

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi on Wednesday visited Peshawar, where he toured the Police Headquarters, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Safe City Project, and various units of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).

During the visit, the minister met the families of 15 police personnel martyred in Bannu and paid tribute to their sacrifices. Expressing condolences to the bereaved families, particularly the mothers of the slain personnel, Naqvi said the courage and resilience shown by them had further strengthened the nation’s resolve against terrorism.

He remarked that the martyred policemen had displayed exceptional bravery and attained the highest honor through their sacrifice in the line of duty.

The interior minister was also given a detailed briefing on the performance of Counter Terrorism Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including recent operations against militants and Indian-sponsored terrorist networks. Naqvi commended the CTD’s operational preparedness and professional capabilities in carrying out successful counterterrorism actions across the province.

He assured officials that the federal government would extend full support to further enhance the operational capacity and modernization of the CTD in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Naqvi also reviewed measures aimed at improving coordination and intelligence-sharing between federal and provincial law enforcement agencies to strengthen the overall security framework in the province.

Later, the minister visited the martyrs’ memorial, where he laid floral wreaths and offered prayers for the departed souls.

During his tour of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Safe City Project, Naqvi inspected the Integrated Command and Control Centre and reviewed the surveillance and monitoring systems powered by advanced camera technology.

Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Zulfiqar Hameed briefed the minister on the progress of the Safe City Project and CTD operations, while senior CTD officials outlined ongoing efforts to modernize the department along contemporary lines.

The chief secretary, IG FC KP North, IG Federal Constabulary, and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
