Commemorating the first anniversary of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos at the Pakistan Embassy in Kabul, Ambassador Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani reaffirmed the nation’s resolve to defend itself against any aggression, stating that the enemy attacked the nation and the armed forces of Pakistan responded valiantly on behalf of every Pakistani. Paying glowing tribute to the armed forces, Ambassador Nizamani affirmed that the nation stands eternally indebted to their sacrifices.
“Pakistan’s desire for peace must never be mistaken for weakness,” the Ambassador emphasized, calling for heightened vigilance against emerging threats in the region. He cited the recent election in West Bengal which had resulted in renewed, systemic violence against the Muslims of West Bengal as a warning sign of renewed anti-Muslim policies in India, adding that in such volatile times, the nation’s unequivocal backing of its armed forces is imperative for the national security.
Ambassador Nizamani, while saluting the unwavering courage of Kashmiri Muslims, reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to Pakistan’s principled stand of providing moral, political, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiris right to self-determination as enshrined in the various UNSC resolutions.
On Afghanistan, Ambassador Nizamani reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to brotherly ties and urged the Afghan regime to take concrete action against terrorist threats emanating from its soil. Highlighting Pakistan’s diplomatic role in easing US-Iran tensions, the Ambassador said such initiatives reflect Pakistan’s sincere desire for global peace.
On this occasion, messages of President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Dy. Prime Minister/ Foreign Minister Senator Muhamad Ishaq Dar were also read out and the special documentary on Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos was also screened.
