Ambassador Khalil Hashmi visited Ningbo, a coastal city in eastern China, on 14 April 2026 as part of efforts by Pakistan Embassy and its Consulates in China to mobilize investments in 21 priority areas. The Ambassador delivered a keynote address at Pakistan-China (Ningbo) Industrial Cooperation Summit and spoke at two B2B Investment Roundtables in the ICT and Pharmaceutical sectors. These events were organized in collaboration with Pakistan Consulate General in Shanghai and by IBI Group.
During his keynote address at the summit, Ambassador Hashmi highlighted Pakistan’s key advantages of location, competitive labour costs, favorable investment policy and strong government support for China's investors. The Ambassador welcomed the decision of the IBI Group to establish its regional office in Islamabad and encouraged Chinese enterprises in Ningbo to join over 60 business leaders scheduled to visit Pakistan for the inauguration of its regional office and matchmaking meetings and interactions with Pakistani counterparts from 8-14 May 2026.
Earlier in the day, Ambassador Hashmi also spoke at Investment Roundtables on pharmaceuticals and healthcare as well as ICT. Apart from sharing details of facilitation measures and incentives in the ICT sector, Ambassador Hashmi encouraged participants to attend the Pakistan-China B2B Investment Conference on ICT in Hangzhou, capital city of Zhejiang province next month. The Ambassador also invited the participants to attend the Pakistan-China B2B Investment Conferences on Home Appliances, Electric Equipment, Battery energy Storage in Lahore on 9-10 May 2026 and separately on Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare, scheduled in June 2026 in Pakistan.
100 Chinese enterprises from home appliances, IT, chemicals and textiles sectors attended the industrial cooperation summit, while nearly two dozen leading companies participated in the two roundtables each.
Ningbo is a vibrant city in Zhejiang province, contributing over $275 billion to its national GDP and stands out as a dynamic hub of innovation and entrepreneurial culture.
