Appreciating the operational continuity on the Karachi–Rohri track despite its deteriorated condition, the Minister stated that comprehensive reforms are being introduced in mechanical, braking, and locomotive systems. He further shared that a new maintenance regime is being introduced to address long-standing issues related to delayed locomotive upkeep.

Muhammad Hanif Abbasi stated that the railway upgradation program is targeted for completion by December 2026, while major infrastructure initiatives are expected to commence in the first week of September. He added that track upgradation in the Lahore Division is progressing at an estimated cost of PKR 250 billion. Additionally, a plan to introduce DMU trains on nine routes is being advanced in collaboration with the Punjab Government. Partnerships with provincial governments through joint venture models are also being expanded to strengthen railway development.

He further emphasized that special measures are being taken to revive the freight and cargo sector.

Referring to the Islamabad Talks, the Minister stated that Islamabad hosted high-level negotiations between the United States and Iran, where Pakistan played a significant mediatory role. He noted that Pakistan facilitated dialogue and coordination between both sides, an effort appreciated by the respective parties.
