Pakistan Pavilion Inaugurated at Japan IT Week 2026; Focus on Expanding IT Exports and Practical Collaboration with Japan

Tokyo: April 08, 2026

The Pakistan Pavilion at Japan IT Week Spring 2026, held at Tokyo Big Sight, was inaugurated on 8 April 2026 by Mr. Abdul Hameed, Ambassador of Pakistan to Japan.

Pakistan’s participation marks its largest presence at Japan IT Week so far, with a delegation of 12 IT companies presenting solutions in software development, cloud services, cybersecurity, fintech, and business systems.

The Pavilion has been organized with the support of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan and the Pakistan Software Export Board, in collaboration with JICA. This reflects a coordinated effort to position Pakistan’s IT sector more effectively in the Japanese market.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Ambassador noted that Pakistan’s IT sector is steadily expanding, with companies already working in international markets and gaining experience in delivering to demanding clients. He stated that Pakistan’s participation is not only about visibility, but about building long-term working relationships with Japanese partners.

Referring to Japan’s focus on Society 5.0, the Ambassador highlighted that Japan is working towards a future where technology supports everyday life, improves productivity, and addresses challenges such as labour shortages and an ageing population. He noted that this creates practical areas where Pakistani companies can contribute, particularly in improving business processes, supporting system development, and helping companies manage operations more efficiently.

He emphasized that engagement with Japan requires consistency and reliability, and that Pakistani companies are preparing to meet these expectations. He added that collaboration should begin with small, clearly defined projects that allow both sides to build confidence over time.

The Ambassador also noted that Pakistan and Japan already share a strong foundation of trust, with Japanese companies operating successfully in Pakistan for decades. He stated that the same approach—step-by-step engagement and long-term commitment—can be extended to cooperation in the technology sector.

The Mission in Tokyo continues to facilitate connections between Pakistani and Japanese companies and to support follow-up so that discussions lead to practical outcomes.

Pakistan’s participation in Japan IT Week 2026 is part of ongoing efforts to expand exports, enter new markets, and build sustainable business partnerships with Japan.

The Pavilion provides an opportunity for Pakistani companies to understand Japanese market requirements, engage directly with potential partners, and develop long-term business relationships.
