A distinguished delegation from the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Türkiye, led by its Honorable President Mr. Justice Kadir Özkaya, visited the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan today i.e. 7th April, 2026 marking a significant step toward strengthening judicial cooperation and institutional exchange between the Apex judicial forums of both countries.
The delegation arrived at 1:00 PM and was received with a warm welcome at the Court premises. An interactive session was held in the Chief Justice’s Chamber, where the visiting delegation engaged in meaningful discussions with the Honorable Chief Justice and esteemed judges of the Federal Constitutional Court. The session was attended by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court, Attorney General of Pakistan, Federal Law Minister along with the Registrars of both Courts.
A formal ceremony for the exchange of gifts and souvenirs took place, symbolizing goodwill and mutual respect between the two judicial institutions. The proceedings continued with the screening of a brief documentary commemorating the 27th Amendment, through which the Federal Constitutional Court was established, along with highlights of the oath-taking ceremony of its Honorable Chief Justice.
A luncheon was subsequently hosted in honor of the Turkish delegation and other respected guests, providing an opportunity for further informal interaction and dialogue. The visit concluded with a group photograph in the lobby area, followed by the delegation’s departure.
This visit marks a significant milestone in fostering closer ties between the constitutional courts of Türkiye and Pakistan. Both sides reaffirmed their longstanding brotherly relations and expressed a shared commitment to advancing judicial cooperation.
Discussions also focused on constitutional interpretation, integration of Artificial Intelligence in judicial processes, and capacity-building, alongside the exchange of legal expertise through visits and delegations and judicial training. The two sides also emphasized upholding constitutional supremacy and ensuring access to justice, agreeing to continue high-level engagements and explore avenues for sustained cooperation in strengthening constitutional governance. It reflects a shared commitment to enhancing judicial collaboration, promoting the exchange of best practices, and supporting the smooth and effective functioning of constitutional adjudication in the respective judicial systems of both countries.
