Islamabad: April 2, 2026

The Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Pakistan, H.E. Sharifzoda Yusuf Toir, along with his delegation, called on Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, Federal Minister for Law and Justice, at the Ministry of Law and Justice, Islamabad today.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and Tajikistan, underscoring the shared cultural heritage, historical linkages, and mutual goodwill that form the foundation of bilateral ties. The discussions also highlighted the importance of further strengthening cooperation across legal and institutional domains.

A key area of deliberation was a proposal to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on mutual legal cooperation between the Ministry of Law and Justice of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan. The proposed MoU aims to promote collaboration in legal affairs, facilitate exchange of expertise, and enhance institutional linkages between the two countries.

Both sides emphasized expanding cooperation in the legal and justice domain through exchange of legal experts, judges, and professionals; capacity building and specialized training programs; and sharing of best practices in areas such as commercial law, dispute resolution, and regulatory frameworks. Cooperation in the fields of arbitration, mediation, and cross-border dispute resolution was also highlighted as a key priority.

It was further noted that enhanced coordination between the two Ministries would contribute to improving access to justice, strengthening institutional efficiency, and promoting investor confidence by ensuring transparent and predictable legal systems.

The Honourable Minister appreciated the Ambassador’s efforts in further deepening bilateral relations and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing engagement with Tajikistan across all sectors, particularly in the legal and judicial spheres.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides agreeing to continue close coordination for finalization and early signing of the proposed MoU.
