Chairman SECP and Chairman CCP called on Federal Minister for Law and Justice

Islamabad: April 1, 2026

Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), Dr. Kabir Ahmad, and Chairman of the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP), Mr. Farid Ahmad Tarar, called on Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, Federal Minister for Law and Justice, at the Ministry of Law and Justice, Islamabad today.

The Honourable Minister congratulated both Chairmen on their recent appointments and conveyed his best wishes for their tenure. He expressed confidence that under their leadership, the SECP and CCP would continue to play a pivotal role in strengthening Pakistan’s regulatory landscape and promoting fair, transparent, and efficient markets.

During the meeting, both Chairmen briefed the Minister on the mandate, performance, and ongoing initiatives of their respective organizations. Matters relating to inter-institutional coordination and further strengthening of the regulatory framework were also discussed.

Discussions were also held on the high-level Committee constituted by the Prime Minister and chaired by the Honourable Minister for Law and Justice, to advance comprehensive reforms in Pakistan’s securities and corporate regulatory framework. The Committee comprises Chairman SECP Dr. Kabir Ahmad, Chairman CCP Mr. Farid Ahmad Tarar, and senior federal secretaries.

The Committee is undertaking a holistic review of the legal, institutional, and appellate architecture governing the sector. Key areas of focus include enhancing regulatory effectiveness, improving dispute resolution mechanisms, reducing procedural bottlenecks, and aligning the framework with international best practices.

This initiative underscores the Government’s commitment to strengthening the corporate and financial regulatory environment, with a focus on transparency, efficiency, and investor protection, thereby fostering a conducive climate for investment and sustainable economic growth.
