Flag Hoisting Ceremony on Pakistan Day

On the occasion of Pakistan National Day a solemn flag hoisting ceremony was held in the Pakistan High Commission, Dhaka. High Commissioner Imran Haider raised the flag in the presence of members of Pakistani community, students, representatives of civil society and local media.

The occasion marked historic day of 23 March 1940 when visionary leaders of Pakistan Movement, under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, passed the Pakistan Resolution laying the foundation for an independent homeland for the Muslims.

Messages from the President of Pakistan Mr Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Mr Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister / Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar were read out, emphasizing the significance of the day and reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to progress and unity. It was reiterated that Pakistan is a proponent of global peace; however, sustainable peace in South Asia is linked to the just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. We will continue to extend moral, political, and diplomatic support to our brothers and sisters in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Solidarity with the people of Palestine was also expressed. It was highlighted that operation Ghazab-lill- Haq is a symbol of national resolve against terrorism and unprovoked aggression.

The High Commissioner extended felicitations to Pakistani diaspora in Bangladesh. He paid rich tributes to the founding fathers for the sacrifices made for the creation of Pakistan. He underscored the importance of reflecting on this legacy and renewing collective resolve to build a strong and prosperous Pakistan in line with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

A pictorial exhibition was also organized to pay homage to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah for his glorious struggle and leadership for the independence of Muslims in South Asia. The ceremony concluded with dua for prosperity and progress of Pakistan.
