Federal Minister calls for unity, cultural promotion on Pakistan Day

Islamabad: March 23, 2026

Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Aurangzeb Khan Khichi on Sunday extended heartfelt greetings to the nation on the occasion of Pakistan Day, urging citizens to reaffirm their commitment to unity, progress and cultural vitality.

In his messages marking March 23, the minister said the day commemorates the historic adoption of the Pakistan Resolution in 1940, which laid the foundation for the creation of an independent homeland. He termed it a defining moment that set the nation on the path of sovereignty, dignity and self-determination.

Paying tribute to the vision and leadership of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the minister said their unwavering commitment transformed the dream of Pakistan into reality in 1947. He also acknowledged the sacrifices rendered by the country’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies in safeguarding sovereignty, combating terrorism and contributing to global peacekeeping efforts.

Aurangzeb Khichi highlighted that the National Heritage and Culture Division, in line with the vision of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, was actively working to project Pakistan’s soft and progressive image at the international level.

He said over the past year, the division had promoted cultural diplomacy through international festivals, exhibitions and heritage showcases, while strengthening bilateral relations through cultural exchanges and “Days of Culture” initiatives with partner countries.

At the domestic level, he noted, efforts had been made to revitalize museums, promote literary and performing arts, and support artisans and creative industries. Public engagement had also been enhanced through cultural festivals, music and film initiatives, and heritage preservation projects.

The minister said Pakistan’s active participation in global cultural forums had helped amplify its identity as a vibrant, creative and culturally rich nation on the world stage.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to preserving national heritage, he stressed the importance of promoting inclusivity, democracy and cultural diversity. He called upon the nation to work collectively for a prosperous and forward-looking Pakistan.

“Let us renew our pledge to uphold the values of unity, faith and discipline and translate them into actions for building a brighter future,” he added.

The minister concluded his message with prayers for the progress and prosperity of the country?
