Telephone Conversation between the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the President of the Syrian Arab Republic

Islamabad: March 02, 2026

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif received a telephone call from H.E. Mr. Ahmed al-Sharaa, President of the Syrian Arab Republic, this evening.

During the telephone conversation, the two leaders discussed the dangerous regional escalation following Israel’s attack on Iran and the subsequent attacks in the Gulf region. They emphasized the urgent need for restraint, de-escalation, and dialogue to preserve regional peace and stability.

The Prime Minister briefed the Syrian leader on Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach in the wake of the current crisis and reaffirmed Pakistan’s readiness to play a constructive role in promoting the restoration of peace and stability in the region.

Apart from the Middle East situation, recent developments in Afghanistan also came under discussion.

On the bilateral front, both leaders expressed satisfaction on the longstanding brotherly ties between Pakistan and Syria and agreed to enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest while maintaining close coordination on regional developments.
