Minister Ahsan Iqbal Calls on Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus in Dhaka

Dhaka: February 17, 2026

Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives of Pakistan is in Dhaka to attend the oath taking ceremony of Mr. Tarique Rahman, Prime Minister-Elect of Bangladesh. Earlier in the day, he called on Hon’ble Chief Advisor of Bangladesh Professor Muhammad Yunus.

During the meeting, Mr.Iqbal congratulated Professor Yunus and people of Bangladesh on successful conduct of elections. He thanked the Chief Adviser for strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh across various spheres including trade, people to people contacts, revival of direct air connectivity.

The Chief Adviser thanked the Minister and while recalling his meetings with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan and Bangladesh share numerous affinities which provide a robust foundation to advance mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation.

The Minister also apprised Prof. Yunus regarding the Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarships under Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor and noted that first batch of the awardees has already joined their respective universities in Pakistan.

Professor Muhammad Yunus appreciated the Initiative and hoped that academic, cultural and people to people exchanges will increase in the coming days.
