The Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, H.E. Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, was the Chief Guest at a prestigious ceremony marking the appointment of Syed Kashif Ali as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Moldova in Pakistan. In his keynote address, Chairman Gilani congratulated Syed Kashif Ali on his appointment and described the opening of the Honorary Consulate as a significant milestone in Pakistan–Moldova relations, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening diplomatic, economic, and institutional ties between the two countries.
As a renowned international leader in diplomacy, Chairman Gilani emphasized Pakistan's growing role in parliamentary diplomacy, highlighting the importance of parliaments in fostering dialogue, confidence-building, and long-term international cooperation. He reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to expanding cooperation with Moldova and other partner countries in priority sectors including trade, agriculture, defence, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, information technology, education, and professional training.
Chairman Gilani also underscored his leadership role in international diplomacy, particularly as the Founding Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers' Conference (ISC). He welcomed Cambodia's announcement to host the second ISC conference later this year, reflecting the forum's growing international recognition and Pakistan's vision for enhanced parliamentary cooperation worldwide.
The event, attended by distinguished diplomats and international representatives, showcased Chairman Gilani's stature as a champion of global cooperation and dialogue.
