Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir, National Assembly of Pakistan, met with prominent UK-based community leaders in his chamber at Parliament House, Islamabad, and held a focused discussion on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and its regional and international dimensions.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Liaquat Ali MBE JP, Past Mayor of the London Borough of Waltham Forest and a representative of the British Muslim Mayors’ Association; Mr. Umar Ali, Barrister and representative of the United International Community Forum (UICF), United Kingdom; and Mr. Khanzada M.A. Hayat, LL.B., LL.M. (UK), President of UICF-UK.
During the meeting, the Chairman briefed the delegation on Pakistan’s principled and consistent stance on the Kashmir issue, emphasizing that it remains an internationally recognized dispute on the agenda of the United Nations. He highlighted ongoing human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and stressed the need for sustained international engagement to ensure the realization of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon appreciated the constructive role of overseas Pakistanis and British Muslim leadership in advocating the Kashmir cause through democratic, legal, and institutional forums in the United Kingdom. He noted that structured diaspora engagement is a strategic enabler in shaping informed global opinion and influencing policymakers.
The visiting delegation reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening advocacy efforts on Kashmir in the UK through parliamentary outreach, legal discourse, civil society engagement, and community-based initiatives.
Director, Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC), and Director General, Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir, were also present during the meeting.
The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to enhance coordination between Pakistani institutions and overseas community organizations to keep the Kashmir issue prominently highlighted at international forums and to work collectively toward a peaceful, just, and durable resolution.
