Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) organized a Seminar on “Transparency and Accountability in Science and Technology” to promote good governance, merit-based systems, and institutional integrity in the science and technology sector.
The seminar aims to comprehensively showcase the reform initiatives, measures, and progressive steps undertaken by all organizations under the administrative control of MoST to foster a culture of transparency, integrity, and accountability in the realm of science and technology.
Mr. Shahid Iqbal Baloch, Federal Secretary, Ministry of Science & Technology, graced the seminar as Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering transparent, accountable, and efficient governance structures within Science and Technology Institutions. He stressed that merit-based decision-making and strong accountability mechanisms are key to promoting excellence and innovation.
The seminar began with a welcome address by Chairman PSF, who emphasized that transparency and accountability are essential for strengthening public trust, improving institutional performance, and ensuring effective utilization of resources in scientific organizations.
During the seminar, representatives of PSF, PCSIR, PNAC, and PSQCA delivered detailed presentations highlighting the mechanisms of transparency and accountability mechanism within their respective organizations. These presentations focused on e- governance frameworks, monitoring and evaluation systems, financial oversight, quality assurance processes, and compliance with national regulations. Scientists, researchers and academicians, actively participated in the discussions, sharing insights and recommendations to further strengthen transparency and accountability across the science and technology landscape.
The seminar concluded with a collective commitment to uphold transparency, accountability, and integrity as guiding principles for advancing science, innovation, and sustainable development in Pakistan.
