NHA Field Formations Actively Executing Federal Minister’s Directives to Maintain Highway Connectivity

Islamabad: January 27, 2026

Following the strict standing instructions already issued by the Federal Minister for Communications, the National Highway Authority (NHA) has intensified its field operations to ensure that the country’s primary travel routes remain open. The Minister’s mandate is clear: zero tolerance for road blockages and the absolute safety of commuters. Consequently, NHA field formations are working tirelessly in shifts to manage the challenges posed by the ongoing winter weather.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a high alert has been issued for travelers on the N-45, N-145, N-95, and N-90. Due to heavy snowfall and the risk of landslides in Dir, Chitral, Swat, and Shangla, NHA teams and heavy machinery remain stationed at vulnerable points. These teams are conducting 24/7 monitoring to ensure that these essential links remain functional. Commuters are strongly advised to avoid unnecessary travel in these regions and are mandated to use "grip chains" to prevent accidents in snow-bound areas.

Regarding the Islamabad-Murree Dual Carriageway (IMDC), NHA confirms that the expressway is fully open and functional for all types of traffic. Despite the influx of tourists and the cold weather, the road remains clear. In Balochistan, the N-25 section, specifically Khojak Top and Lak Pass, is also fully operational following continuous snow removal and salt sprinkling operations. All major highways under the jurisdiction of the NHA are currently clear, and field staff are in constant coordination with traffic police to maintain the flow.

The NHA management emphasizes that the current field activities are a direct continuation of the Federal Minister’s safety protocols. Travelers are urged to strictly follow traffic police instructions and contact NHA field staff immediately in case of any emergency. The Authority remains committed to providing a safe and smooth travel experience across the national highway network throughout this weather spell.
