Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, called on Federal Minister for Health, Mustafa Kamal, and held a detailed meeting to discuss key challenges confronting the health sector and ongoing initiatives aimed at improving healthcare delivery across the country.
During the meeting, the Governor emphasized the significant importance of federal support for enhancing health facilities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He stressed that protecting citizens from diseases requires strong coordination and joint efforts between the federation and the provinces. The Governor also urged that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa be given priority under the National Health Support Program to further strengthen provincial health services.
Federal Minister for Health Mustafa Kamal reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to providing all possible support to strengthen the national health system. He stated that the health sector is receiving special attention, and that the federation is working closely with all provinces to control and eliminate diseases across the country.
The Federal Health Minister highlighted that health sector reforms are being accelerated, with a comprehensive strategy in place to reduce the burden on major hospitals. He noted that efforts are underway to strengthen primary healthcare through digital health solutions, adding that the telemedicine system has already been launched to improve access to medical services and reduce patient load at tertiary care hospitals.
Emphasizing a preventive approach, Syed Mustafa Kamal stated that the focus is shifting from waiting for patients to fall ill to proactive measures aimed at preventing diseases and safeguarding public health.
Both leaders agreed to continue close collaboration to ensure a robust, efficient, and people-centered healthcare system for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the country as a whole.
