CHAIRMAN SENATE SYED YOUSAF RAZA GILANI EXTENDS CHRISTMAS GREETINGS TO THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY WORLDWIDE

Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, has extended heartfelt greetings to the Christian community in Pakistan and across the world on the occasion of Christmas. He said that Christmas holds profound significance for Christians and conveys a message of peace, love, and brotherhood.

In his message, the Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani emphasized the promotion of interfaith harmony, stating that respect for one another’s beliefs, traditions, and religious sentiments is a shared responsibility. He noted that by embracing the principles of tolerance and peaceful coexistence, societies can move toward sustainable progress and prosperity.

Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said that Pakistan is a country that firmly believes in interfaith harmony, where minorities enjoy full religious freedom as guaranteed by the Constitution of Pakistan. He recalled that during his tenure as Prime Minister, a dedicated ministry for minority affairs was established and minorities were given representation in the federal cabinet to ensure their effective participation in decision-making processes.

The Chairman Senate acknowledged the valuable contributions of minority communities to Pakistan’s development, stability, and prosperity. He added that the Upper House of Parliament has enacted significant legislation to safeguard minority rights and to provide facilities and relief, reflecting a strong and inclusive democratic system.

He further stated that collective efforts are essential for individual and social welfare to help make the world a cradle of peace.

Expressing optimism, he said that the Christian community will continue to play a positive and constructive role in promoting Pakistan’s progress, prosperity, and peace. He also appreciated the commendable initiatives taken by the Senate to promote interfaith harmony and protect minority rights.

The Chairman Senate added that Parliamentary Committee on Minority Caucus has been established to address issues faced by minorities. He concluded by saying that Pakistan is rich in religious and cultural heritage, and concrete steps are being taken to preserve this heritage as a symbol of national unity and a harmonious society.
