“On this International Human Rights Day, Pakistan reaffirms its steadfast commitment to the protection and promotion of the rights, freedoms and dignity of all its citizens. Anchored in the Constitution of Pakistan and in line with our international obligations, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Government continues to uphold the principles of equality, justice and inclusivity as the foundation of a rights-based society.
The Ministry of Human Rights, working closely with provincial governments and partners, continues to lead initiatives that safeguard the rights of all citizens, promote awareness, and ensure access to justice for everyone.
As Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah stated in his historic 11 August 1947 speech: “You are free; you are free to go to your temples, you are free to go to your mosques or to any other place of worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion or caste or creed, that has nothing to do with the business of the State.” Guided by the teachings of Islam, which emphasize justice, compassion, equality and respect for all, we remain committed to building a society where every individual can live with dignity, freedom and respect.
I appreciate the continued support of UN agencies and civil society organizations in advancing human rights in Pakistan. Together, we must continue to strengthen our collective efforts to create a just and inclusive society for future generations. May Allah guide and bless our efforts. Aameen.”
