Peshawar: December 09, 2025

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa organized a seminar in connection with International Anti-Corruption Day 2025 at the Governor House, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, under the theme “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity.” Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi presided over the event, which brought together distinguished guests, students, officials, and people from various walks of life.

The seminar commenced with his opening remarks by Director NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Akhtar Ali, who highlighted the significance of collective efforts in raising awareness against corruption.

Addressing the participants, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi emphasized the need for strict penalties against corruption and the firm accountability of those involved. He said youth are the nation’s future, and they must stand against corruption, which he described not only as a financial crime but a moral failure and a threat to social progress. He stressed strengthening honesty in education, transparency in governance, and integrity in society to build a system where honesty becomes the norm. The governor urged all segments of society to correct their attitudes and actions, expressing confidence that collective resolve can help make Pakistan a corruption-free country.

For his part, Director General NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Farman Ullah, underscored the importance of observing International Anti-Corruption Day as a reminder of Pakistan’s commitment to integrity and accountability. He noted that corruption is not only a criminal act but a betrayal of public trust that undermines citizens’ rights, hampers development, and erodes the moral fabric of society.

He shared NAB KP’s recent achievements, stating:

Under the leadership of Chairman NAB Lt. Gen. (R) Nazir Ahmad Butt, NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa successfully pursued major cases, including the MEGA corruption case involving Rs. 37 billion, leading to the arrest of those responsible.

NAB KP secured recoveries exceeding Rs. 4.6 billion in 2025.

He further highlighted that the IMF’s recent report on governance and corruption acknowledged NAB’s role in recovering over Rs. 5.3 trillion in 2023–24, with the figure now exceeding Rs. 9 trillion nationwide.

DG NAB reaffirmed the Bureau’s commitment to accountability across the board, guided by the principles of fairness, transparency, and merit. He emphasized that the fight against corruption cannot be waged by NAB alone and requires strong community involvement, moral courage, and national resolve.

To mobilize youth, he noted that NAB has established more than 5000 Character Building Societies (CBS) across educational institutions, reflecting its dedication to fostering ethical values from an early age. “We envision a Pakistan where merit prevails over favouritism, honesty over deceit, and service over self-interest,” he added.

Other speakers, including senior officials, civil society representatives, and educationists, also addressed the audience on the importance of eliminating corruption from society. Students delivered insightful speeches on the theme, showcasing their determination to contribute to a corruption-free Pakistan.

At the conclusion of the seminar, certificates and hefty cash prizes were distributed among the position holder students and shields were distributed among the distinguished guests and participants in recognition of their contributions.
