On World Sustainable Transport Day, Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan
said in his message, we renew our commitment to building a cleaner, smarter and more resilient transport
system for Pakistan and one that supports economic growth while protecting our environment for future
generations. He added that as a country that serves as a vital regional corridor, Pakistan recognizes that
roads and highways are not only channels of movement but drivers of sustainable development. The
Ministry of Communications, through the National Highway Authority (NHA) is actively integrating eco-
friendly practices, improved design standards, climate-resilient infrastructure, and efficient traffic
management systems across the national road network.
Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan said that our
focus is on developing energy-efficient highways, promoting green mobility, and reducing the
environmental footprint of transport operations while ensuring safer, faster and more reliable connectivity
for our people and regional partners. He said that few days back at the 24th Ministerial CAREC
Conference in Bishkek, Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to the vision of “Green and Digital CAREC”,
emphasizing the urgent need for sustainable corridors, smart transport solutions, and digitally enabled
infrastructure. These initiatives aim to enhance regional connectivity while minimizing carbon emissions
and promoting climate resilience.
Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan said that Last month, at the Regional
Transport Ministers’ Conference in Islamabad, Pakistan brought together Ministers and Experts to
strengthen multimodal connectivity across road, rail and maritime sectors in support of sustainable
regional integration and economic growth. He said that the Conference provided a vital platform to identify
priority transport routes, harmonize regulations and explore joint investments for a more connected,
efficient and resilient regional transport network. On this important day, Abdul Aleem Khan commend the
efforts of our engineers, planners, workers, and development partners who are working tirelessly to
modernize Pakistan’s transport sector in line with global sustainability goals.
Let us continue to move forward with a shared vision — Greener Roads. Smarter Transport.
