WORLD SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT DAY (NOVEMBER 26, 2025) MESSAGE FROM THE FEDERAL MINISTER FOR COMMUNICATIONS ABDUL ALEEM KHAN

On World Sustainable Transport Day, Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan said in his message, we renew our commitment to building a cleaner, smarter and more resilient transport system for Pakistan and one that supports economic growth while protecting our environment for future generations. He added that as a country that serves as a vital regional corridor, Pakistan recognizes that roads and highways are not only channels of movement but drivers of sustainable development. The Ministry of Communications, through the National Highway Authority (NHA) is actively integrating eco- friendly practices, improved design standards, climate-resilient infrastructure, and efficient traffic management systems across the national road network.

Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan said that our focus is on developing energy-efficient highways, promoting green mobility, and reducing the environmental footprint of transport operations while ensuring safer, faster and more reliable connectivity for our people and regional partners. He said that few days back at the 24th Ministerial CAREC Conference in Bishkek, Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to the vision of “Green and Digital CAREC”, emphasizing the urgent need for sustainable corridors, smart transport solutions, and digitally enabled infrastructure. These initiatives aim to enhance regional connectivity while minimizing carbon emissions and promoting climate resilience.

Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan said that Last month, at the Regional Transport Ministers’ Conference in Islamabad, Pakistan brought together Ministers and Experts to strengthen multimodal connectivity across road, rail and maritime sectors in support of sustainable regional integration and economic growth. He said that the Conference provided a vital platform to identify priority transport routes, harmonize regulations and explore joint investments for a more connected, efficient and resilient regional transport network. On this important day, Abdul Aleem Khan commend the efforts of our engineers, planners, workers, and development partners who are working tirelessly to modernize Pakistan’s transport sector in line with global sustainability goals.
