Under the Green Tractor Scheme of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, tractors were distributed to farmers in Jhelum.
Minister of State for Finance and Railways, Bilal Azhar Kayani, distributed the Green Tractors to 39 farmers from Jhelum, Dina, and Sohawa tehsils. Of these beneficiaries, 10 belong to Tehsil Jhelum, 10 to Tehsil Dina, and 19 to Tehsil Sohawa. Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has provided a special subsidy of PKR 1 million on each tractor.
Addressing the ceremony, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani stated that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is promoting agriculture in Punjab by providing tractors to farmers at affordable prices.
The Minister of State emphasized that the provision of modern agricultural machinery to farmers will modernize agriculture in Punjab, and the process of e-mechanization marks the beginning of a new era for the sector in the province. He highlighted that the development of farmers leads to the development of agriculture and Pakistan, as agriculture is the backbone of Pakistan's industrial and economic progress. He further noted that the use of modern equipment such as super seeders, balers, and Kubota machines is significantly aiding the promotion of modern agriculture, controlling smog, and addressing the issue of crop burning.
Bilal Azhar Kayani also mentioned other government welfare projects, including Suthra Punjab, the Kisan Card, early construction of the Lilla Jhelum Road, provision of new blocks and health facilities at DHQ Jhelum, establishment of a THQ in Dina, and linking Jhelum with the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway. He affirmed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is focused on providing employment to youth and ensuring the country's economic development, and both he and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif are working sincerely day and night for the service of the people. The Minister of State also announced that efforts are underway to promptly fulfill the long-standing demand for gas supply in Dina and Sohawa, and he would make a special request in this regard to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Federal Minister Ali Pervaiz.
