Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Director General of the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (NCA), Graeme Biggar. British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, National Coordinator NACTA, DG NCCIA, DG National Forensic Agency, Additional Secretary Interior, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, and IG Islamabad Police were also present.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on enhancing cooperation in counterterrorism, anti-narcotics, human trafficking, forensics, immigration, and police training. It was agreed to strengthen collaboration on training courses for officers of various departments, including the Anti-Narcotics and NCCIA.
Both sides also decided to enhance coordination and joint mechanisms to curb online child harassment. They further agreed to increase bilateral assistance on extradition matters, while five MoUs on extradition and other areas of cooperation between Pakistan and the UK will soon be finalized.
DG Graeme Biggar condemned the suicide attack in Islamabad and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that the roots of terrorism lie across the border, and that Pakistan’s determination and steadfastness in the fight against terrorism remain unparalleled. He emphasized that modern forensic tools and advanced training can further strengthen the capacity of law enforcement agencies.
The Interior Minister added that effective measures are being taken with Upscale’s cooperation to curb illegal immigration.
DG Biggar said the UK government is working closely with Pakistan in various sectors and lauded Pakistan’s efforts in countering narcotics.
