Pakistan to Promote Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Tourism through Regional Collaboration

Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, Mr. Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, along with former Punjab Minister Mr. Muhammad Janzaib Khan Khichi, held here a meeting with Lt. Gen. (R) Hassan Azhar Hayat, Managing Director of Green Tourism Pakistan, to discuss initiatives aimed at promoting cultural heritage and sustainable tourism in the country.

During the meeting, the Minister was briefed on key initiatives, including the nomination of new UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Buddhist Heritage Promotion Plan, enhanced connectivity, and the development of Hindu religious tourism. Both sides discussed strategies to strengthen collaboration between the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture and Green Tourism Pakistan for the preservation and global promotion of Pakistan’s cultural assets.

Mr. Khichi appreciated the efforts of Green Tourism Pakistan and assured the Ministry’s full support for joint initiatives aimed at advancing heritage preservation, cultural promotion, and tourism development across Pakistan. Mr. Usman Shah, Honorary Advisor to the Federal Minister, was also present at the meeting.

The participants underscored the importance of projecting Pakistan’s rich cultural identity, traditions, and natural beauty at both national and international levels. They expressed a shared commitment to expanding Pakistan’s cultural diplomacy and fostering sustainable tourism opportunities.

Meanwhile, Pakistan is set to participate in the upcoming Bangladesh Travel & Tourism Fair, in collaboration with Green Tourism Pakistan and the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture Division. The participation aims to promote Pakistan’s diverse cultural heritage, traditions, and tourism potential on an international platform.

Through this initiative, Pakistan seeks to strengthen bilateral relations with Bangladesh and other participating nations, fostering regional cultural exchange and cooperation in sustainable tourism. Representatives from the Ministry and Green Tourism Pakistan will showcase the country’s art, crafts, heritage sites, and eco-tourism opportunities, reflecting Pakistan’s growing role in cultural and tourism development across South Asia.
