Ambassador of Pakistan to China, along with the newly elected Presidents of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and the Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), called on the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan, in Islamabad today.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the challenges faced by the industrial sector, issues concerning Chinese investors, the promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and the future roadmap for industrial development.
Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan stated that, under the direction of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the government is committed to reviving industrial growth and ensuring ease of doing business. He emphasized that the new Industrial Policy has been designed keeping in view the facilitation of industries and long-term sustainability of the manufacturing sector.
Ambassador of Pakistan to China remarked that, for the first time, all government institutions, policymakers, and investors are on the same page to accelerate economic growth. Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan added that it is the vision and efforts of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif that have aligned all stakeholders and departments toward the common goal of economic revival.
The President of the Gujranwala Chamber highlighted that Gujranwala is home to more than 6,000 small and medium-sized enterprises, contributing significantly to Pakistan’s industrial base.
Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan acknowledged the importance of SMEs and noted that the Prime Minister has shown special interest in empowering SMEs and enhancing the economic role of women. He directed SMEDA to play a proactive role in facilitating SMEs in Gujranwala and addressing their operational challenges.
The SAPM assured the visiting delegation of full government support in resolving all industry-related issues and congratulated the newly elected Presidents of LCCI and GCCI on their elections.
