Federal Minister for Health, Mustafa Kamal, paid an official visit to Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Lahore, to review the existing facilities, assess challenges, and discuss measures for improvement. He was accompanied by Federal Secretary Health, Mr. Hamid Yaqoob, while senior officials from the Punjab Health Department were also present during the visit.
During the briefing, the hospital administration apprised the Minister about the current situation, available facilities, and challenges, including issues related to medical equipment, shortage of staff, and infrastructure needs. The Minister emphasized the need to prepare a comprehensive roadmap and recommendations for the hospital’s upgradation at the earliest.
“Every possible measure will be taken to resolve the issues faced by the hospital,” said Minister Mustafa Kamal. “Improving healthcare delivery across Pakistan remains our top national priority,” he added.
The Minister visited various sections of the hospital, including the Emergency Department and different wards, to review patient care and service delivery. He interacted with staff and patients to obtain firsthand feedback and directed that doctors and paramedical staff must treat patients with compassion and respect.
“When a doctor speaks kindly to a patient, half the illness goes away,” remarked the Minister, adding that those who come to hospitals are already in distress. “Alleviating the pain of humanity pleases the Almighty,” he said.
Minister Kamal reaffirmed that the government is adopting an integrated and effective strategy to protect citizens from diseases and strengthen the overall healthcare system in Pakistan.
