Global technology provider Metso discussed a significant investment and commitment to supplying advanced equipment and technology for Pakistan's copper mining sector. The discussion followed by the meeting between Ms. Piia Karhu, President of Minerals at Metso company Finland, and Pakistan's Minister of State for Finance and Railways, Mr. Bilal Azhar Kayani.
Discussions primarily centered on investment prospects in Pakistan's mineral sector, with a strong emphasis on copper mining. Metso will supply modern mining technology and equipment and train the local human resource. She shared their company's future plan of participating in Reko Diq project by providing mining technology and services.
Minister Kayani highlighted the progress and future plans of ML-1 and ML-3 railway lines for the timely activation of the Reko Diq project, which is targeted for December 2028. The Minister welcomed the Metso's future participation in economic activity.
Both parties agreed to hold a follow-up meeting with Ministry of Railways technical experts to advance cooperation and investment prospects.
