Inauguration of Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement Complaint Management System (IPRE-CMS)

IPO-Pakistan has inaugurated Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement Complaint Management System (IPRE-CMS) in Karachi for the benefit of the business, innovation and creative community to effectively address the twin menace of the piracy and counterfeiting. The system was officially launched in Lahore on 19 September.

The Chairman IPO-Pakistan Ambassador (r) Farukh Amil alongwith the Director General Mr. Nauman Aslam and senior officials from PEMRA, Pakistan Customs, Sindh Police, KCCI, KPC and other stakeholders inaugurated the IPRE-CMS system at IP House, Karachi. The Chair IPO talking with the media informed that the online Complaint Management System (CMS) will save not only time, energy and resources of the complainant but also the complainant will be able to track and trace his application.

The Director General IPO informed that IPO-Pakistan is committed to serve the creative community for protection, registration and enforcement of their IP rights to get real economic benefits of their efforts by digitalization of its systems for the business community.

The online Complaint Management System will further allow the applicants to file complaints from anywhere, reducing the need for physical visits to the IPO office. Digital filing will significantly reduce processing times, enabling applicants to receive updates on their applications more quickly. Electronic filing will save money and time as the process will be more cost-effective. Digital platform will provide a secure online account with a calendar of important dates, allowing applicants to track their application's progress and receive notification.

Mr. Shamim Ahmed from KCCI appreciated the efforts of IPO-Pakistan for digitalization of its systems for creative and business community and asked for robust awareness campaign among the SMEs and start-ups.

The Chair concluded that in the age of digitalization this will greatly empower MSMEs and strengthen business confidence both for local and foreign investors. This is firmly in line with the Prime Minister’s vision of the digitalization of the economy and ease of doing business.
