A meeting of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) was held under the chairmanship of the Federal Minister for Health, Mr. Mustafa Kamal. The Federal Secretary of Health, Chief Executive Officer of DRAP, and other senior officials attended the session.
During the meeting, the Federal Minister was briefed on the progress regarding the upgradation of the Central Drugs Laboratory. It was highlighted that the achievement of accreditation will align Pakistan’s drug testing system with modern global standards.
Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal emphasized, “Accreditation is vital to ensure the safety and efficacy of medicines at the national level. It will modernize our systems in line with international requirements.”
The meeting also reviewed DRAP’s progress towards achieving the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Maturity Level 3. The Minister directed that the process of bringing DRAP to WHO Maturity Level 3 be expedited.
Mr. Mustafa Kamal added, “Reaching WHO Maturity Level 3 will ensure that Pakistan’s systems for medicine registration, monitoring, and quality assurance meet international benchmarks. Enhancing DRAP’s institutional capacity will not only strengthen the national health system but also build global confidence and foster international partnerships. We are fully committed to transforming DRAP into a world-class regulatory authority.”
