Federal Minister for Water Resources Meets Polish Ambassador to Discuss Flood Cooperation and Economic Collaboration

Islamabad: September 17, 2025

Federal Minister for Water Resources Muhammad Mueen Watto met with the Ambassador of Poland to Pakistan, Mr. Maciej Pisarski, to discuss the recent flood situation, the extent of damages, and explore avenues for enhanced cooperation in disaster management, flood control, and economic development.

The Minister highlighted that Pakistan experienced 15% more rainfall this year, attributing the increased rainfall to climate change. He emphasized that such challenges must be addressed through collective efforts at both the national and international levels to ensure sustainable solutions and protect vulnerable communities.

Ambassador Pisarski expressed deep condolences over the loss of lives and property caused by the floods and reaffirmed Poland’s support for Pakistan in rebuilding damaged infrastructure and strengthening flood management systems. He also shared Poland’s success in overcoming frequent floods through effective planning and management, offering to share technical expertise and best practices with Pakistan.

During the meeting, both sides discussed a wide range of key areas of cooperation, including the establishment of an advanced flood early warning system, developing strategies to tackle urban flooding, and enhancing the capacity of departments related to disaster preparedness and response.

They also explored opportunities to strengthen economic cooperation, with a focus on supporting recovery and resilience in the flood-affected regions. It was agreed that practical steps will be taken very soon to implement these initiatives and further deepen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Poland.
