Pakistan and Palestine Sign Agreement to Enhance Cooperation in Health Sector

Pakistan and Palestine have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the health sector, the Ministry of National Health Services confirmed today.

On behalf of Pakistan, Federal Minister for Health, Syed Mustafa Kamal, signed the agreement, while the Ambassador of Palestine signed on behalf of his government. The ceremony was attended by Federal Secretary of Health Hamid Yaqoob, Additional Secretary Health, and the Director General Health.

Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal announced that a Pakistan-Palestine Health Working Group will be established within the next 30 days to oversee the implementation of the agreement and provide guidance for practical collaboration.

Highlighting the key areas of cooperation, the Minister said that special focus will be placed on enhancing capacity in advanced medical fields including; Interventional Cardiology, Organ Transplant, Orthopedic Surgery, Endoscopic Ultrasound, Burn and Plastic Surgery.

He further added that joint efforts will also be pursued in the fields of infectious diseases, ophthalmology, and pharmaceuticals, while opportunities for collaborative research will be explored.

“The purpose of this agreement is to foster closer collaboration for improving the health and well-being of the people of both brotherly nations,” said Minister Mustafa Kamal. “We will continue to extend every possible support to our Palestinian brothers and sisters in the field of health. The hearts of the people of Pakistan beat with Palestine, and we stand ready to assist them in every possible way.”

The Palestinian Ambassador thanked the Government of Pakistan and the Health Minister, stating: “Palestine and Pakistan are brotherly countries. Together, we will work for the improvement of health and well-being of our peoples.”
