Federal Minister for Health, Mr. Mustafa Kamal, paid an official visit to Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) in Islamabad today.
During the visit, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Tanveer Khaliq briefed the Minister in detail about the university’s administrative affairs, academic programs, and research initiatives. Dr. Khaliq highlighted that the university is determined to raise the standards of teaching and research and is actively working to provide medical education and training of international quality.
Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister Mustafa Kamal emphasized that the university must focus on producing highly competent doctors who can bring pride to Pakistan not only within the country but also on the global stage.
“Doctors are regarded as healers by the public,” the Minister noted. “When physicians treat patients with compassion, humility, and respect, the healing process is already half achieved.”
He underscored that human beings, as the noblest of creations, turn to healthcare institutions during times of pain and illness. Therefore, doctors should not only provide medical care but also ensure dignity and respect for their patients.
Mr. Kamal further urged the university to strengthen research and practical training in the field of medical ethics. He also called for greater focus on modern disciplines such as Lifestyle Medicine to promote disease prevention and encourage healthier living practices in society.
