A bilateral consultative meeting on the cashless economy was held between the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan.
The meeting was represented by His Excellency Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, UAE Minister of State for Financial Affairs, and Mr. Bilal Azhar Kayani, Pakistan’s Minister of State for Finance.
The UAE side provided a detailed briefing on digital payments and collections. UAE officials shared insights into the Emirates' experiences related to the digital economy. The Pakistani team elaborated on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision for a cashless economy and provided an update on the progress made so far.
The meeting agreed to continue cooperation at the technical team level between the two countries on various aspects of the cashless economy. The Prime Minister’s initiatives for promoting the digital economy were also discussed. The meeting reviewed the progress made so far in overall cooperation between the UAE and Pakistan in the field of modern governance.
Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani expressed gratitude to the UAE leadership and government for their support in knowledge and experience exchange, particularly in the cashless economy and other sectors.
The meeting was also attended by His Excellency Ali Abdullah Sharafi, Assistant Undersecretary for International Financial Relations at the UAE Ministry of Finance; Director Ms. Suraiya Hamid Al Hashmi; and Mr. Ibrahim Al Ali from the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs.
The Pakistani delegation, led by Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani, included Mr. Jameel Ahmad, Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan; Mr. Imdadullah Bosal, Secretary Finance; Mr. Zarrar Hasham, Secretary IT; Mr. Faisal Tirmizi, Pakistani Ambassador to the UAE; other senior officials; and members of the Karandaz team.
