Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, Barrister Danyal Chaudhry, today called for national unity beyond political divisions to address Balochistan’s critical energy challenges. He made these remarks during his concluding address at a research dissemination event on rural electrification in Balochistan, organized by the Policy Research Institute for Equitable Development (PRIED).
“At this pivotal moment, we must rise above political divisions and work collectively to ensure no province is left behind,” stated Barrister Danyal. “The energy gap in Balochistan is a national concern that demands unified action and shared responsibility.”
The Parliamentary Secretary emphasized that Balochistan’s development is integral to Pakistan’s progress. He highlighted the government’s commitment through the National Electricity Plan 2023 and the Alternative Renewable Energy Policy 2019, which aim to achieve universal electrification and increase renewable energy share to 30% by 2030.
“Balochistan’s immense renewable potential must be harnessed for its people and for Pakistan,” he said. “We are committed to transforming policies into tangible projects—grid extensions, solar solutions, and support for agricultural electrification.”
The event featured keynote addresses by Mr. Shah Jahan Mirza, Managing Director of PPIB, and Members of the National Assembly Mr. Usman Badini and Nawabzada Mir Jamal Khan Raisani. Researchers Mr. Muqaddas Ashiq and Mr. Manzoor Alizai presented findings on electrification in Nushki, while a panel discussion included experts from industry and civil society.
Barrister Danyal commended PRIED for facilitating an informed dialogue and urged all stakeholders to collaborate in ensuring equitable development and energy justice for Balochistan.
