Spokesperson of the Power Division while clarifying a news Item titled “Audit Report Shines light on 4.8 trn irregularities in Power Sector”, stated that the item is based on a initial “observations “rather than final findings therefore creating wrong impression.
The Spokesperson said that such initial audit observations always follow a certain process which includes discussion and presentation of record at various forums including DACs and PAC.
The audit teams identify various preliminary irregularities on various basis like non provision of proof, record, disagreement over rules, compliance etc.
The Spokesperson further clarified that these observations are not of the present Government Tenure.
These observations will be discussed at various forums; record will be presented and most part of it will be settled. That is why the report states “irregularities “not any final findings.
The Spokesperson said that the finality of these audit paras depends on DACs and PAC meetings and its final decisions.
