The Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Commerce underscored the importance of sustained economic reforms for national stability while addressing the launch ceremony of the book “Economy: Backbone of National Security.”
The event, hosted at the invitation of Lieutenant General (Retd) Majid Ehsan, brought together senior policymakers, economists, business leaders, and security experts. Participants discussed the vital link between economic resilience and national security.
In his remarks, the Coordinator emphasized the government’s resolve to end Pakistan’s recurring boom-and-bust cycle through consistent, long-term reforms. He noted that sustainable growth requires moving beyond short-term measures and adopting a strategy rooted in trade competitiveness, fiscal discipline, and privatization to promote private sector-led growth.
Highlighting the role of greater trade openness and integration into global value chains, he stressed that effective resource utilization and reforming state-owned enterprises are essential to improving governance, efficiency, and investor confidence.
The Coordinator concluded that a resilient economy serves as the backbone of national security, reaffirming the government’s commitment to economic stability, strengthening investor trust, and steering Pakistan toward a sustainable growth trajectory.
