PR No. 173

Statement by Federal Minister Dr. Musadik Malik

Islamabad: August 15, 2025

Pakistan is once again facing the painful reality of extreme weather. Torrential rains and floods have struck with devastating force in Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Punjab, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. It is heartbreaking looking at the images and reports from these areas. Precious lives have been lost, homes washed away, and entire communities left vulnerable and destitute.

I extend my deepest condolences to those who have lost a loved one. Your grief is our grief. To those who have been displaced, I assure you that the Government of Pakistan stands shoulder-to-shoulder with you in this hour of trial.

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination is working in close coordination with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), provincial authorities, and humanitarian partners.

This is a moment for national solidarity. The path ahead is difficult but I have faith that together, we will be able to overcome this. We will not rest until every affected family is safe and on the path to recovery.
