Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that Pakistan was founded on the golden principles of Islam: justice, equality, and tolerance — and it will always stand on these foundations. He added that Pakistan considers the protection of minorities’ lives, property, freedom of belief, and freedom of worship not only a constitutional responsibility but also part of the state’s identity.
In his special message on the National Day for Minority Rights, the Federal Interior Minister said that every citizen living in Pakistan, regardless of their religion, is an equal Pakistani. He highlighted that Islam prohibits coercion, teaches freedom of belief, and respect for humanity — and these teachings are the basis for the protection of minorities.
Mohsin Naqvi said that Quaid-e-Azam, in his address of 11 August 1947, stated that every citizen in Pakistan enjoys equal status. He emphasized that the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees the fundamental rights of minorities. All minorities in Pakistan participate in national development with dignity and equality,
and they are proud companions in this journey.
Interior Minister further said that minorities have rendered exemplary services in every field i.e education, health, defense, politics and these contributions are highly praiseworthy. He stated that the role of minorities is a shining chapter in Pakistan’s national heritage. He underscored that Patriotism, service, and character are the true measures of national identity, adding that Pakistan and Pakistanis do not believe in discrimination.
Mohsin Naqvi stated that the state always gives top priority to the protection of minorities’ lives, property, and sacred places. Whether it is the renovation of places of worship or the security of religious events, the state always fulfills its responsibility, he said. He highlighted that Even in times of war, keeping the Kartarpur Corridor and Nankana Sahib open and secure is practical proof of Pakistan’s commitment to peace, love, and interfaith harmony.
Interior Minister underscored that Pakistan guarantees full rights to minorities because they are equally entitled towards the state. He asserted that Our policy, intentions, and actions are clear that there will be no compromise on the protection, freedom, and inclusion of minorities. He said that on this National Day for Minority Rights, as a nation, let us reaffirm our resolve to protect the fundamental rights of minorities.
