Pakistan Railways and Government of Balochistan Agree to Launch “People’s Train Service”

Islamabad: August 7, 2025

In a high-level meeting held in Quetta, significant progress was made between the Government of Balochistan and Pakistan Railways regarding the launch of the “People’s Train Service”, which will operate between Saryab and Kuchlak. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti.

It was informed during the meeting that consultations on the proposed route have been completed and practical implementation of the project will begin soon. The Chief Minister stated that he would personally oversee every phase of the project and no delays will be tolerated.

The Government of Balochistan has decided that engines and coaches for the service will be procured from Pakistan Railways instead of being imported. On this occasion, Federal Minister for Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, assured that within six months, engines, coaches, and other necessary facilities will be provided.

It was also decided in the meeting that Pakistan Railways will begin upgrading the existing infrastructure on the route to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the service.

The Federal Minister for Railways described the project as a respectable, affordable, and fast travel solution for the people of Balochistan. He stated that the service will mark the beginning of a new era of transportation for the public and will provide high-quality travel facilities to the local population.
