Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, has arrived in Geneva, leading a high-level parliamentary delegation to participate in the Global Conference of Speakers. The conference, taking place from 29 to 31 July 2025, will focus on key global themes including parliamentary cooperation, peace and justice, and international engagement.
The parliamentary delegation comprises Senator Dostain Khan Domki, Members of the National Assembly Ghulam Ali Talpur and Asfandyar Bhindara, along with Chairman Senate’s Advisor, Ms. Misbah Khar. The delegation was warmly received at Geneva Airport by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Switzerland, Mr. Bilal Ahmed.
During the conference, Chairman Senate is scheduled to hold important bilateral meetings with Speakers and parliamentary leaders from various countries. Discussions will center on strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, upholding democratic values, and formulating joint strategies to address shared global challenges. This visit marks a significant step in advancing Pakistan’s parliamentary diplomacy and promoting its constructive engagement on the international stage.
Chairman Senate will also attend the opening ceremony of the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in close collaboration with the United Nations. Held every five years, this prestigious global forum brings together parliamentary leaders from around the world to enhance international cooperation and promote parliamentary diplomacy.
Additionally, Chairman Senate will deliver an address during the General Debate and hold high-level bilateral meetings with his counterparts on the sidelines of the conference.
