In an ongoing effort to foster the growth of the E-sports sector in Pakistan, a high-level meeting was held between the Pakistan E-sports Task Force and a delegation from the British E-sports Federation, chaired by Chairman Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan. The delegation’s visit was the result of a collaboration between PMYP and the Commonwealth Asia Youth Alliance (CAYA) Secretariat, aimed at advancing the development of E-sports in Pakistan. The discussions focused on several key initiatives, including the creation of a formal E-sports policy and structure to support the sector's growth in the country. Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan stressed the importance of establishing a comprehensive ecosystem for E-sports, one that would include training, career opportunities, and infrastructure, making E-sports a viable and recognized professional path for young people in Pakistan. He highlighted the potential of gaming and animation as lucrative career options for the youth.
A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to the topics of responsible gaming and mental health. The Chairman emphasized the need for promoting education around responsible gaming practices to ensure that Pakistan’s growing E-sports sector fosters the well-being of its participants. During the discussions, Lynn Robinson, Head of Social Policy Development at the Commonwealth Secretariat, expressed his satisfaction with Pakistan’s progress, stating, “I am very delighted to see Pakistan on the right, rather more advanced track for E-sports policy development.”
Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan also underscored the growing global significance of game development as an emerging industry, emphasizing that Pakistan has already made significant strides in this field. He further highlighted the role of the PM’s Digital Youth Hub (DYH), Pakistan’s first national digital one-stop platform, which will be instrumental in connecting youth to a variety of opportunities in E-sports and related sectors. Through DYH, young Pakistanis will gain access to resources, scholarships, internships, and career options in the E-sports industry, positioning them to engage with global opportunities.
Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan concluded the meeting by reaffirming his commitment to supporting the growth of E-sports in Pakistan, ensuring that the country’s youth are equipped with the tools and resources needed to excel on the international stage.
