Pakistan and Azerbaijan Agree to Form Joint Working Groups to Strengthen Trade and Rail Connectivity

A high-level meeting was held between Pakistan and Azerbaijan to strengthen and enhance rail and trade connectivity. The meeting, chaired by Minister of State for Railways and Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani, took place at the Ministry of Railways.

Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is implementing a comprehensive strategy for the development and modernization of Pakistan Railways. He emphasized that Pakistan attaches great importance to expanding trade relations with Azerbaijan through rail connectivity.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Railways Syed Mazhar Ali Shah, Secretary Railways Board Muhammad Yusuf, and senior officials from SIFC, NLC, Maritime Affairs, and the State Bank of Pakistan. The Azerbaijani delegation, led by Mr. Arif Aghayev, Deputy Chairman, CJSC, joined via video link.

Secretary Railways Board Muhammad Yusuf provided an overview of Pakistan Railways' network. Discussions also took place regarding the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan Rail Agreement.

Both sides agreed to establish joint working groups to advance mutual cooperation in rail and trade sectors.
