The Ministry of National Food Security & Research has taken serious notice of certain misleading reports circulating in the media, suggesting that the recent meeting between the government and the sugar mill association remained inconclusive.
It is clarified that the meeting, chaired by the Federal Minister for National Food Security & Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, led to a clear and firm decision regarding sugar pricing. The ex-mill price of sugar has been fixed at Rs. 165 per kilogram, while the retail price shall not exceed Rs. 173 to Rs. 175 per kilogram.
A formal notification regarding the retail price is being finalized and will be issued following approval from the Federal Cabinet.
Furthermore, the Minister emphasized that all provincial governments will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of the approved retail price to provide relief to consumers and maintain price stability across the country.
The Ministry remains committed to safeguarding consumer interests and ensuring transparent, fair market practices through continued engagement with relevant stakeholders.
